The building types below illustrate the main issue, where Smart meters are not located near the premises, therefore reducing the ability for the Smart meter to communicate with devices in the homes. An example is an apartment block with a single “meter room” in the basement. Large homes can also be affected, for example the Smart meter could be located in an out-building.
